First up in our review of local restaurants, businesses etc. is Bistro 781 at 336 Moody Street Waltham.

The Bistro opened over this summer, and the husband, Bob and I went for dinner about a month ago. The renovated interior is very attractive, with a long bar along one wall and plenty of seating that can accommodate small or large parties.

We had a few Moody Mules, their take on a Moscow Mule, which arrived in very attractive copper Tito's Vodka cups.

To start we had two OUTSTANDING appetizers, which included probably the best crab cakes I have ever had (made with corn bread) and spring rolls with shredded beef inside. They also give you complementary tiny little corn bread muffins, which have such a delicate texture they almost melt in your mouth.

I should have stopped there. I would have been completely satisfied with those appetizers and a salad. But we ordered entrees as well. We both selected beef, I had a strip steak and Bob had something else I cannot remember. GREAT REVIEW RIGHT? Anyway, we were both very satisfied. The entrees came with a veggie and a potato, so there was a lot of food. I ended up taking half of mine home. The steak made great wraps the next day.

The service was excellent and our drinks were replenished without having to waive someone down. All in all it was a great meal. I highly recommend it, and definitely order the crab cakes. Also, if their website is to be believed, they are currently hiring. Check them out!
